وَتِلْكَ عَادٌ ۖ جَحَدُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ وَعَصَوْا۟ رُسُلَهُۥ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَ كُلِّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِيدٍ
یہ تھی قوم عاد، جنہوں نے اپنے رب کی آیتوں کا انکار کیا اور اس کے رسولوں کی نافرمانی کی اور ہر ایک سرکش نافرمان کے حکم کی تابعداری کی.
And that was ʿAad, who rejected the signs of their Lord and disobeyed His messengers and followed the order of every obstinate tyrant.
وَمَآ أَفَآءَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِۦ مِنْهُمْ فَمَآ أَوْجَفْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ خَيْلٍ وَلَا رِكَابٍ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُسَلِّطُ رُسُلَهُۥ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
اور ان کا جو مال اللہ تعالیٰ نے اپنے رسول کے ہاتھ لگایا ہے جس پر نہ تو تم نے اپنے گھوڑے دوڑائے ہیں اور نہ اونٹ بلکہ اللہ تعالیٰ اپنے رسول کو جس پر چاہے غالب کر دیتا ہے، اور اللہ تعالیٰ ہر چیز پر قادر ہے.
And what Allāh restored [of property] to His Messenger from them - you did not spur for it [in an expedition] any horses or camels, but Allāh gives His messengers power over whom He wills, and Allāh is over all things competent.
