فَلَمَّا كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُمُ ٱلرِّجْزَ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ هُم بَـٰلِغُوهُ إِذَا هُمْ يَنكُثُونَ
پھر جب ان سے اس عذاب کو ایک خاص وقت تک کہ اس تک ان کو پہنچنا تھا ہٹا دیتے، تو وه فوراً ہی عہد شکنی کرنے لگتے۔
But when We removed the punishment from them until a term which they were to reach, then at once they broke their word.
وَإِذَا مَسَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ ٱلضُّرُّ دَعَانَا لِجَنۢبِهِۦٓ أَوْ قَاعِدًا أَوْ قَآئِمًا فَلَمَّا كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُ ضُرَّهُۥ مَرَّ كَأَن لَّمْ يَدْعُنَآ إِلَىٰ ضُرٍّ مَّسَّهُۥ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِلْمُسْرِفِينَ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
اور جب انسان کو کوئی تکلیف پہنچتی ہے تو ہم کو پکارتا ہے لیٹے بھی، بیٹھے بھی، کھڑے بھی۔ پھر جب ہم اس کی تکلیف اس سے ہٹا دیتے ہیں تو وه ایسا ہوجاتا ہے کہ گویا اس نے اپنی تکلیف کے لیے جو اسے پہنچی تھی کبھی ہمیں پکارا ہی نہ تھا، ان حد سے گزرنے والوں کے اعمال کو ان کے لیے اسی طرح خوشنما بنادیا گیا ہے۔
And when affliction touches man, he calls upon Us, whether lying on his side or sitting or standing; but when We remove from him his affliction, he continues [in disobedience] as if he had never called upon Us to [remove] an affliction that touched him. Thus is made pleasing to the transgressors that which they have been doing.
فَلَوْلَا كَانَتْ قَرْيَةٌ ءَامَنَتْ فَنَفَعَهَآ إِيمَـٰنُهَآ إِلَّا قَوْمَ يُونُسَ لَمَّآ ءَامَنُوا۟ كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْخِزْىِ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَمَتَّعْنَـٰهُمْ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ
چنانچہ کوئی بستی ایمان نہ ﻻئی کہ ایمان ﻻنا اس کو نافع ہوتا سوائے یونس ﴿علیہ السلام﴾ کی قوم کے۔ جب وه ایمان لے آئے تو ہم نے رسوائی کے عذاب کو دنیوی زندگی میں ان پر سے ٹال دیا اور ان کو ایک وقت (خاص) تک کے لیے زندگی سے فائده اٹھانے (کا موقع) دیا.
Then has there not been a [single] city that believed so its faith benefited it except the people of Jonah? When they believed, We removed from them the punishment of disgrace in worldly life and gave them enjoyment [i.e., provision] for a time.
فَلَمَّا كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابَ إِذَا هُمْ يَنكُثُونَ
پھر جب ہم نے وه عذاب ان سے ہٹالیا انہوں نے اسی وقت اپنا قول وقرار توڑ دیا.
But when We removed from them the affliction, at once they broke their word.
