وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا فِى قَرْيَةٍ مِّن نَّبِىٍّ إِلَّآ أَخَذْنَآ أَهْلَهَا بِٱلْبَأْسَآءِ وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَضَّرَّعُونَ
اور ہم نے کسی بستی میں کوئی نبی نہیں بھیجا کہ وہاں کے رہنے والوں کو ہم نے سختی اور تکلیف میں نہ پکڑا ہو، تاکہ وه گڑ گڑائیں۔
And We sent to no city a prophet [who was denied] except that We seized its people with poverty and hardship that they might humble themselves [to Allāh].
وَلَقَدْ أَخَذْنَآ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ بِٱلسِّنِينَ وَنَقْصٍ مِّنَ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَ
اور ہم نے فرعون والوں کو مبتلا کیا قحط سالی میں اور پھلوں کی کم پیداواری میں، تاکہ وه نصیحت قبول کریں۔
And We certainly seized the people of Pharaoh with years of famine and a deficiency in fruits that perhaps they would be reminded.
إِن تُصِبْكَ حَسَنَةٌ تَسُؤْهُمْ ۖ وَإِن تُصِبْكَ مُصِيبَةٌ يَقُولُوا۟ قَدْ أَخَذْنَآ أَمْرَنَا مِن قَبْلُ وَيَتَوَلَّوا۟ وَّهُمْ فَرِحُونَ
آپ کو اگر کوئی بھلائی مل جائے تو انہیں برا لگتا ہے اور کوئی برائی پہنچ جائے تو یہ کہتے ہیں ہم نے تو اپنا معاملہ پہلے سے ہی درست کر لیا تھا، پھر تو بڑے ہی اتراتے ہوئے لوٹتے ہیں۔
If good befalls you, it distresses them; but if disaster strikes you, they say, "We took our matter [in hand] before," and turn away while they are rejoicing.
