فَعَقَرُوا۟ ٱلنَّاقَةَ وَعَتَوْا۟ عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْ وَقَالُوا۟ يَـٰصَـٰلِحُ ٱئْتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَآ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
پس انہوں نے اس اونٹنی کو مار ڈاﻻ اور اپنے پروردگار کے حکم سے سرکشی کی اور کہنے لگے کہ اے صالح! جس کی آپ ہم کو دھمکی دیتے تھے اس کو منگوائیے اگر آپ پیغمبر ہیں۔
So they hamstrung the she-camel and were insolent toward the command of their Lord and said, "O Ṣāliḥ, bring us what you promise us, if you should be of the messengers."
وَمَا مَنَعَنَآ أَن نُّرْسِلَ بِٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ إِلَّآ أَن كَذَّبَ بِهَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ ۚ وَءَاتَيْنَا ثَمُودَ ٱلنَّاقَةَ مُبْصِرَةً فَظَلَمُوا۟ بِهَا ۚ وَمَا نُرْسِلُ بِٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ إِلَّا تَخْوِيفًا
ہمیں نشانات (معجزات) کے نازل کرنے سے روک صرف اسی کی ہے کہ اگلے لوگ انہیں جھٹلا چکے ہیں۔ ہم نے ﺛمودیوں کو بطور بصیرت کے اونٹنی دی لیکن انہوں نے اس پر ﻇلم کیا ہم تو لوگوں کو دھمکانے کے لئے ہی نشانیاں بھیجتے ہیں.
And nothing has prevented Us from sending signs [i.e., miracles] except that the former peoples denied them. And We gave Thamūd the she-camel as a visible sign, but they wronged her. And We send not the signs except as a warning.
