وَمَا كَانَ لِمُؤْمِنٍ أَن يَقْتُلَ مُؤْمِنًا إِلَّا خَطَـًٔا ۚ وَمَن قَتَلَ مُؤْمِنًا خَطَـًٔا فَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُّؤْمِنَةٍ وَدِيَةٌ مُّسَلَّمَةٌ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن يَصَّدَّقُوا۟ ۚ فَإِن كَانَ مِن قَوْمٍ عَدُوٍّ لَّكُمْ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُّؤْمِنَةٍ ۖ وَإِن كَانَ مِن قَوْمٍۭ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُم مِّيثَـٰقٌ فَدِيَةٌ مُّسَلَّمَةٌ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ وَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُّؤْمِنَةٍ ۖ فَمَن لَّمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ تَوْبَةً مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا

کسی مومن کو دوسرے مومن کا قتل کر دینا زیبا نہیں مگر غلطی سے ہو جائے (تو اور بات ہے)، جو شخص کسی مسلمان کو بلا قصد مار ڈالے، اس پر ایک مسلمان غلام کی گردن آزاد کرنا اور مقتول کے عزیزوں کو خون بہا پہنچانا ہے۔ ہاں یہ اور بات ہے کہ وه لوگ بطور صدقہ معاف کر دیں اور اگر مقتول تمہاری دشمن قوم کا ہو اور ہو وه مسلمان، تو صرف ایک مومن غلام کی گردن آزاد کرنی ﻻزمی ہے۔ اور اگر مقتول اس قوم سے ہو کہ تم میں اور ان میں عہد و پیماں ہے تو خون بہا ﻻزم ہے، جو اس کے کنبے والوں کو پہنچایا جائے اور ایک مسلمان غلام کا آزاد کرنا بھی (ضروری ہے)، پس جو نہ پائے اس کے ذمے دو مہینے کے لگاتار روزے ہیں، اللہ تعالیٰ سے بخشوانے کے لئےاور اللہ تعالیٰ بخوبی جاننے واﻻ اور حکمت واﻻ ہے۔

And never is it for a believer to kill a believer except by mistake. And whoever kills a believer by mistake - then the freeing of a believing slave and a compensation payment [diyah] presented to his [i.e., the deceased's] family [is required], unless they give [up their right as] charity. But if he [i.e., the deceased] was from a people at war with you and he was a believer - then [only] the freeing of a believing slave; and if he was from a people with whom you have a treaty - then a compensation payment presented to his family and the freeing of a believing slave. And whoever does not find [one or cannot afford to buy one] - then [instead], a fast for two months consecutively, [seeking] acceptance of repentance from Allāh. And Allāh is ever Knowing and Wise.

مَا كَانَ لِأَهْلِ ٱلْمَدِينَةِ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَعْرَابِ أَن يَتَخَلَّفُوا۟ عَن رَّسُولِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا يَرْغَبُوا۟ بِأَنفُسِهِمْ عَن نَّفْسِهِۦ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ لَا يُصِيبُهُمْ ظَمَأٌ وَلَا نَصَبٌ وَلَا مَخْمَصَةٌ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا يَطَـُٔونَ مَوْطِئًا يَغِيظُ ٱلْكُفَّارَ وَلَا يَنَالُونَ مِنْ عَدُوٍّ نَّيْلًا إِلَّا كُتِبَ لَهُم بِهِۦ عَمَلٌ صَـٰلِحٌ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُضِيعُ أَجْرَ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ

مدینہ کے رہنے والوں کو اور جو دیہاتی ان کے گردوپیش ہیں ان کو یہ زیبا نہ تھا کہ رسول اللہ کو چھوڑ کر پیچھے ره جائیں اور نہ یہ کہ اپنی جان کو ان کی جان سے عزیز سمجھیں، یہ اس سبب سے کہ ان کو اللہ کی راه میں جو پیاس لگی اور جو تکان پہنچی اور جو بھوک لگی اور جو کسی ایسی جگہ چلے جو کفار کے لیے موجب غیظ ہوا ہو اور دشمنوں کی جو کچھ خبر لی، ان سب پر ان کے نام (ایک ایک) نیک کام لکھا گیا۔ یقیناً اللہ تعالیٰ مخلصین کا اجر ضائع نہیں کرتا۔

It was not [proper] for the people of Madīnah and those surrounding them of the bedouins that they remain behind after [the departure of] the Messenger of Allāh or that they prefer themselves over his self. That is because they are not afflicted by thirst or fatigue or hunger in the cause of Allāh, nor do they tread on any ground that enrages the disbelievers, nor do they inflict upon an enemy any infliction but that it is registered for them as a righteous deed. Indeed, Allāh does not allow to be lost the reward of the doers of good.
