يَـٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لِمَ تُحَآجُّونَ فِىٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَتِ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةُ وَٱلْإِنجِيلُ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦٓ ۚ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
اے اہل کتاب! تم ابراہیم کی بابت کیوں جھگڑتے ہو حاﻻنکہ تورات وانجیل تو ان کے بعد نازل کی گئیں، کیا تم پھر بھی نہیں سمجھتے؟
O People of the Scripture, why do you argue about Abraham while the Torah and the Gospel were not revealed until after him? Then will you not reason?
۞ كُلُّ ٱلطَّعَامِ كَانَ حِلًّا لِّبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ إِلَّا مَا حَرَّمَ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِۦ مِن قَبْلِ أَن تُنَزَّلَ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةُ ۗ قُلْ فَأْتُوا۟ بِٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ فَٱتْلُوهَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
توراة کے نزول سے پہلے (حضرت) یعقوب (علیہ السلام) نے جس چیز کو اپنے اوپر حرام کر لیا تھا اس کے سوا تمام کھانے بنی اسرائیل پر حلال تھے، آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ اگر تم سچے ہو تو توراة لے آو اور پڑھ کر سناؤ.
All food was lawful to the Children of Israel except what Israel [i.e., Jacob] had made unlawful to himself before the Torah was revealed. Say, [O Muḥammad], "So bring the Torah and recite it, if you should be truthful."
وَكَيْفَ يُحَكِّمُونَكَ وَعِندَهُمُ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةُ فِيهَا حُكْمُ ٱللَّهِ ثُمَّ يَتَوَلَّوْنَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ ۚ وَمَآ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
(تعجب کی بات ہے کہ) وه کیسے اپنے پاس تورات ہوتے ہوئے جس میں احکام الٰہی ہیں تم کو منصف بناتے ہیں پھر اس کے بعد بھی پھر جاتے ہیں، دراصل یہ ایمان ویقین والے ہیں ہی نہیں۔
But how is it that they come to you for judgement while they have the Torah, in which is the judgement of Allāh? Then they turn away, [even] after that; but those are not [in fact] believers.
