هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ فِى ظُلَلٍ مِّنَ ٱلْغَمَامِ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ وَقُضِىَ ٱلْأَمْرُ ۚ وَإِلَى ٱللَّهِ تُرْجَعُ ٱلْأُمُورُ

کیا لوگوں کو اس بات کا انتظار ہے کہ ان کے پاس خود اللہ تعالیٰ ابر کے سائبانوں میں آجائے اور فرشتے بھی اور کام انتہا تک پہنچا دیا جائے، اللہ ہی کی طرف تمام کام لوٹائے جاتے ہیں۔

Do they await but that Allāh should come to them in covers of clouds and the angels [as well] and the matter is [then] decided? And to Allāh [all] matters are returned.

أَفَأَمِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ مَكَرُوا۟ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ أَن يَخْسِفَ ٱللَّهُ بِهِمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ أَوْ يَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

بدترین داؤ پیچ کرنے والے کیا اس بات سے بے خوف ہوگئے ہیں کہ اللہ تعالیٰ انہیں زمین میں دھنسا دے یا ان کے پاس ایسی جگہ سے عذاب آجائے جہاں کا انہیں وہم وگمان بھی نہ ہو.

Then, do those who have planned evil deeds feel secure that Allāh will not cause the earth to swallow them or that the punishment will not come upon them from where they do not perceive?

وَمَا مَنَعَ ٱلنَّاسَ أَن يُؤْمِنُوٓا۟ إِذْ جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْهُدَىٰ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ رَبَّهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن تَأْتِيَهُمْ سُنَّةُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ أَوْ يَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ قُبُلًا

لوگوں کے پاس ہدایت آچکنے کے بعد انہیں ایمان ﻻنے اور اپنے رب سے استغفار کرنے سے صرف اسی چیز نے روکا کہ اگلے لوگوں کا سا معاملہ انہیں بھی پیش آئے یا ان کے سامنے کھلم کھلا عذاب آموجود ہوجائے.

And nothing has prevented the people from believing when guidance came to them and from asking forgiveness of their Lord except that there [must] befall them the [accustomed] precedent of the former peoples or that the punishment should come [directly] before them.
