صُمٌّۢ بُكْمٌ عُمْىٌ فَهُمْ لَا يَرْجِعُونَ

بہرے، گونگے، اندھے ہیں۔ پس وه نہیں لوٹتے۔

Deaf, dumb and blind - so they will not return [to the right path].

وَقَالَت طَّآئِفَةٌ مِّنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ءَامِنُوا۟ بِٱلَّذِىٓ أُنزِلَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَجْهَ ٱلنَّهَارِ وَٱكْفُرُوٓا۟ ءَاخِرَهُۥ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ

اور اہل کتاب کی ایک جماعت نے کہا کہ جو کچھ ایمان والوں پر اتارا گیا ہے اس پر دن چڑھے تو ایمان ﻻؤ اور شام کے وقت کافر بن جاؤ، تاکہ یہ لوگ بھی پلٹ جائیں۔

And a faction of the People of the Scripture say [to each other], "Believe in that which was revealed to the believers at the beginning of the day and reject it at its end that perhaps they will return [i.e., abandon their religion],

وَقَطَّعْنَـٰهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أُمَمًا ۖ مِّنْهُمُ ٱلصَّـٰلِحُونَ وَمِنْهُمْ دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَبَلَوْنَـٰهُم بِٱلْحَسَنَـٰتِ وَٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ

اور ہم نے دنیا میں ان کی مختلف جماعتیں کر دیں۔ بعض ان میں نیک تھے اور بعض ان میں اور طرح تھے اور ہم ان کو خوش حالیوں اور بدحالیوں سے آزماتے رہے کہ شاید باز آجائیں۔

And We divided them throughout the earth into nations. Of them some were righteous, and of them some were otherwise. And We tested them with good [times] and bad that perhaps they would return [to obedience].

وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ وَلَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ

ہم اسی طرح آیات کو صاف صاف بیان کرتے ہیں اور تاکہ وه باز آجائیں۔

And thus do We [explain in] detail the verses, and perhaps they will return.

وَقَالَ لِفِتْيَـٰنِهِ ٱجْعَلُوا۟ بِضَـٰعَتَهُمْ فِى رِحَالِهِمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَعْرِفُونَهَآ إِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ

اپنے خدمت گاروں سے کہا کہ ان کی پونجی انہی کی بوریوں میں رکھ دو کہ جب لوٹ کر اپنے اہل وعیال میں جائیں اور پونجیوں کو پہچان لیں تو بہت ممکن ہے کہ یہ پھر لوٹ کر آئیں.

And [Joseph] said to his servants, "Put their merchandise into their saddlebags so they might recognize it when they have gone back to their people that perhaps they will [again] return."
