وَأَنزَلَ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَـٰهَرُوهُم مِّنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مِن صَيَاصِيهِمْ وَقَذَفَ فِى قُلُوبِهِمُ ٱلرُّعْبَ فَرِيقًا تَقْتُلُونَ وَتَأْسِرُونَ فَرِيقًا

اور جن اہل کتاب نے ان سے سازباز کر لی تھی انہیں (بھی) اللہ تعالیٰ نے ان کے قلعوں سے نکال دیا اور ان کے دلوں میں (بھی) رعب بھر دیا کہ تم ان کے ایک گروه کو قتل کر رہے ہو اور ایک گروه کو قیدی بنا رہے ہو.

And He brought down those who supported them among the People of the Scripture from their fortresses and cast terror into their hearts [so that] a party [i.e., their men] you killed, and you took captive a party [i.e., the women and children].

هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَخْرَجَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مِن دِيَـٰرِهِمْ لِأَوَّلِ ٱلْحَشْرِ ۚ مَا ظَنَنتُمْ أَن يَخْرُجُوا۟ ۖ وَظَنُّوٓا۟ أَنَّهُم مَّانِعَتُهُمْ حُصُونُهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ فَأَتَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَمْ يَحْتَسِبُوا۟ ۖ وَقَذَفَ فِى قُلُوبِهِمُ ٱلرُّعْبَ ۚ يُخْرِبُونَ بُيُوتَهُم بِأَيْدِيهِمْ وَأَيْدِى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَٱعْتَبِرُوا۟ يَـٰٓأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرِ

وہی ہے جس نے اہل کتاب میں سے کافروں کو ان کے گھروں سے پہلے حشر کے وقت نکالا، تمہارا گمان (بھی) نہ تھا کہ وه نکلیں گے اور وه خود (بھی) سمجھ رہے تھے کہ ان کے (سنگین) قلعے انہیں اللہ (کے عذاب) سے بچا لیں گے پس ان پر اللہ (کا عذاب) ایسی جگہ سے آپڑا کہ انہیں گمان بھی نہ تھا اور ان کے دلوں میں اللہ نے رعب ڈال دیا وه اپنے گھروں کو اپنے ہی ہاتھوں اجاڑ رہے تھے اور مسلمانوں کے ہاتھوں (برباد کروا رہے تھے) پس اے آنکھوں والو! عبرت حاصل کرو.

It is He who expelled the ones who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture from their homes at the first gathering. You did not think they would leave, and they thought that their fortresses would protect them from Allāh; but [the decree of] Allāh came upon them from where they had not expected, and He cast terror into their hearts [so] they destroyed their houses by their [own] hands and the hands of the believers. So take warning, O people of vision.
