وَلَقَدْ كَانُوا۟ عَـٰهَدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مِن قَبْلُ لَا يُوَلُّونَ ٱلْأَدْبَـٰرَ ۚ وَكَانَ عَهْدُ ٱللَّهِ مَسْـُٔولًا
اس سے پہلے تو انہوں نے اللہ سے عہد کیا تھا کہ پیٹھ نہ پھیریں گے، اور اللہ تعالیٰ سے کیے ہوئے وعده کی باز پرس ضرور ہوگی.
And they had already promised Allāh before not to turn their backs [i.e., flee]. And ever is the promise to Allāh [that about which one will be] questioned.
وَلَوْ قَـٰتَلَكُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَوَلَّوُا۟ ٱلْأَدْبَـٰرَ ثُمَّ لَا يَجِدُونَ وَلِيًّا وَلَا نَصِيرًا
اور اگر تم سے کافر جنگ کرتے تو یقیناً پیٹھ دکھا کر بھاگتے پھر نہ تو کوئی کار ساز پاتے نہ مددگار.
And if those [Makkans] who disbelieve had fought you, they would have turned their backs [in flight]. Then they would not find a protector or a helper.
لَئِنْ أُخْرِجُوا۟ لَا يَخْرُجُونَ مَعَهُمْ وَلَئِن قُوتِلُوا۟ لَا يَنصُرُونَهُمْ وَلَئِن نَّصَرُوهُمْ لَيُوَلُّنَّ ٱلْأَدْبَـٰرَ ثُمَّ لَا يُنصَرُونَ
اگر وه جلاوطن کیے گئے تو یہ ان کے ساتھ نہ جائیں گے اور اگر ان سے جنگ کی گئی تو یہ ان کی مدد (بھی) نہ کریں گے اور اگر (بالفرض) مدد پر آبھی گئے تو پیٹھ پھیر کر (بھاگ کھڑے) ہوں گے پھر مدد نہ کیے جائیں گے.
If they are expelled, they will not leave with them, and if they are fought, they will not aid them. And [even] if they should aid them, they will surely turn their backs; then [thereafter] they will not be aided.
