فَمَكَثَ غَيْرَ بَعِيدٍ فَقَالَ أَحَطتُ بِمَا لَمْ تُحِطْ بِهِۦ وَجِئْتُكَ مِن سَبَإٍۭ بِنَبَإٍ يَقِينٍ
کچھ زیاده دیر نہ گزری تھی کہ آ کر اس نے کہا میں ایک ایسی چیز کی خبر ﻻیا ہوں کہ تجھے اس کی خبر ہی نہیں، میں سبا کی ایک سچی خبر تیرے پاس ﻻیا. ہوں.
But he [i.e., the hoopoe] stayed not long and said, "I have encompassed [in knowledge] that which you have not encompassed, and I have come to you from Sheba with certain news.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِن جَآءَكُمْ فَاسِقٌۢ بِنَبَإٍ فَتَبَيَّنُوٓا۟ أَن تُصِيبُوا۟ قَوْمًۢا بِجَهَـٰلَةٍ فَتُصْبِحُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَا فَعَلْتُمْ نَـٰدِمِينَ
اے مسلمانو! اگر تمہیں کوئی فاسق خبر دے تو تم اس کی اچھی طرح تحقیق کر لیا کرو ایسا نہ ہو کہ نادانی میں کسی قوم کو ایذا پہنچا دو پھر اپنے کیے پر پشیمانی اٹھاؤ.
O you who have believed, if there comes to you a disobedient one with information, investigate, lest you harm a people out of ignorance and become, over what you have done, regretful.
