وَإِن يُكَذِّبُوكَ فَقَدْ كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ وَعَادٌ وَثَمُودُ
اگر یہ لوگ آپ کو جھٹلائیں (تو کوئی تعجب کی بات نہیں) تو ان سے پہلے نوح کی قوم اور عاد اور ﺛمود.
And if they deny you, [O Muḥammad] - so, before them, did the people of Noah and ʿAad and Thamūd deny [their prophets],
وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
ان سے پہلے بھی بہت سے اگلے بہک چکے ہیں.
And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples,
كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ وَعَادٌ وَفِرْعَوْنُ ذُو ٱلْأَوْتَادِ
ان سے پہلے بھی قوم نوح اور عاد اور میخوں والے فرعون نے جھٹلایا تھا.
The people of Noah denied before them, and [the tribe of] ʿAad and Pharaoh, the owner of stakes,
كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ وَٱلْأَحْزَابُ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ ۖ وَهَمَّتْ كُلُّ أُمَّةٍۭ بِرَسُولِهِمْ لِيَأْخُذُوهُ ۖ وَجَـٰدَلُوا۟ بِٱلْبَـٰطِلِ لِيُدْحِضُوا۟ بِهِ ٱلْحَقَّ فَأَخَذْتُهُمْ ۖ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عِقَابِ
قوم نوح نے اور ان کے بعد کے گروہوں نے بھی جھٹلایا تھا۔ اور ہر امت نے اپنے رسول کو گرفتار کر لینے کا اراده کیا اور باطل کے ذریعہ کج بحثیاں کیں، تاکہ ان سے حق کو بگاڑ دیں پس میں نے ان کو پکڑ لیا، سو میری طرف سے کیسی سزا ہوئی.
The people of Noah denied before them and the [disbelieving] factions after them, and every nation intended [a plot] for their messenger to seize him, and they disputed by [using] falsehood to [attempt to] invalidate thereby the truth. So I seized them, and how [terrible] was My penalty.
۞ وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ كَرِيمٌ
یقیناً ان سے پہلے ہم قوم فرعون کو (بھی) آزما چکے ہیں جن کے پاس (اللہ) کا باعزت رسول آیا.
And We had already tried before them the people of Pharaoh, and there came to them a noble messenger [i.e., Moses],
