وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُهُم بِٱلْأُنثَىٰ ظَلَّ وَجْهُهُۥ مُسْوَدًّا وَهُوَ كَظِيمٌ
ان میں سے جب کسی کو لڑکی ہونے کی خبر دی جائے تو اس کا چہره سیاه ہو جاتا ہے اور دل ہی دل میں گھٹنے لگتا ہے.
And when one of them is informed of [the birth of] a female, his face becomes dark, and he suppresses grief.
يَتَوَٰرَىٰ مِنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ مِن سُوٓءِ مَا بُشِّرَ بِهِۦٓ ۚ أَيُمْسِكُهُۥ عَلَىٰ هُونٍ أَمْ يَدُسُّهُۥ فِى ٱلتُّرَابِ ۗ أَلَا سَآءَ مَا يَحْكُمُونَ
اس بری خبر کی وجہ سے لوگوں سے چھپا چھپا پھرتا ہے۔ سوچتا ہے کہ کیا اس کو ذلت کے ساتھ لئے ہوئے ہی رہے یا اسے مٹی میں دبا دے، آه! کیا ہی برے فیصلے کرتے ہیں؟
He hides himself from the people because of the ill of which he has been informed. Should he keep it in humiliation or bury it in the ground? Unquestionably, evil is what they decide.
وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُهُم بِمَا ضَرَبَ لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِ مَثَلًا ظَلَّ وَجْهُهُۥ مُسْوَدًّا وَهُوَ كَظِيمٌ
(حاﻻنکہ) ان میں سے کسی کو جب اس چیز کی خبر دی جائے جس کی مثال اس نے (اللہ) رحمٰن کے لیے بیان کی ہے تو اس کا چہره سیاه پڑ جاتا ہے اور وه غمگین ہو جاتا ہے.
And when one of them is given good tidings of that which he attributes to the Most Merciful in comparison [i.e., a daughter], his face becomes dark, and he suppresses grief.
